The founder of Encompass is Barry Gouws (BCompt Hons), a professional accountant registered with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (membership number: 34403) and a registered tax practitioner (PR-0088230).
Barry completed his 5 year external auditing articles (training contract) at an auditing firm on the East Rand. He then joined the corporate world and became a full time accountant for one of the entities within the Altron Group of Companies.

Unstructured problem solving made this part of my career very challenging and enjoyable! This was were the passion for cost and management accounting started. It is a wonderful experience to be a part of a plan and then assist in executing the strategy and achieving company goals.”
With his new found skill set Barry rejoined the audit family as Audit Manager with full responsibility for the planning and execution of audits. He was seen as the right-hand-man of the Partner and launched the cost and management accounting wing of the firm. This section expanded rapidly and as a result Encompass was born.
Establishing lasting partnerships is part of Barry’s philosophy and as a result major retailers and engineering concerns have entrusted Barry with group financial controlling functions which have led to major business developments and increased profitability.
Lifelong learning is a key element of Barry’s approach and he hopes to complete his CIMA qualification in the near future. This qualification along with his comprehensive skill set, experience and natural flair for risk management will greatly assist Companies with business strategy.
